The Queens

 Green Canopy

Supporting Luton’s museums since 1986

Before Covid made its presence felt and turned the world upside down, the Friends of Luton Museums agreed to sponsor a tree for the new arboretum in Wardown Park. After a delay of two years on the 21st April the Queens birthday, group of Friends attended a planting ceremony officiated by the High Sheriff of Bedfordshire and the Mayor of Luton. The trees planted have become part of the Queens Green Canopy. Our tree is a Meta Sequoia Glypto Gold Rush, it has all year round leaf interest, bright green in the Spring, golden yellow in the summer, through to deep red in the Autumn. When fully mature it exceed thirty metres in height, but that's a number of years away.
